Job Description
Sr. Tooling Design Engineer
Location: Salt Lake City
Reports to: General Manager
Premier Plastics is currently seeking a Sr. Tooling Design Engineer for a full-time position. Premier Plastic is a fast-growing company that specializes in designing and producing custom packaging solution for a wide variety of industries. We are looking for an individual to join our fast-paced environment that works with the team to create new innovated solutions while striving to deliver a high quality product.
Responsibilities:

Experience in tooling design with CAD software to create prototype and production tooling within the plastic manufacturing industry, Solidworks and Thermoforming experience a plus

Practical CAM programing skills in mold and die creation, Mastercam experience a plus

Wide range of processing knowledge in raw material in the production process, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of molds, tooling, and support fixtures

Advanced experience with machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance

Conduct test inspections, and interpret blueprints, designs, drawings, and mockups to create a plan for fabricating tools, dies, and assemblies

Works cooperatively and effectively with operations, manufacturing engineering, project engineers, quality engineers and suppliers to optimize tools and ease product manufacturing process, cost, and quality.

Estimate and providing tooling quotes for new tooling and existing modification projects

Works with project managers to create and design innovated packaging solutions which flow into the mold and die creation process

Maintain tool drawings and related documents files to ensure accuracy and revision control

Ability to manage multiple projects and establish priorities to meet project and customer timelines

Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication capabilities

Requirements:

5+ years’ relevant tooling design experience in a manufacturingsetting
-
Familiarity with thermoforming is preferred; injection molding experience is also useful
-
Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, manufacturing or a closely related field is preferred
-
Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
