Job Description

Technical Sales Specialist – Onsite

Location: Salt Lake City

Reports to: VP of Sales

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000


Position Description: The Technical Sales Specialist is responsible for all steps required to move new customer projects from the initial contact step through commercialization. The TSS is the technical expert responsible for assisting customers to create solutions that meet their requirements. The TSS is one of the primary owners of the ongoing customer relationship. This person may also attend events where Premier Plastics has a sales presence, such as trade shows, to answer technical questions for prospective customers. This position reports to the Vice President of Sales.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with new and existing customers on new packaging designs to develop solutions that meet their requirements while also exceeding their expectations

  • Generate quotes on new projects and provide those quotes to customers

  • Work closely with multiple groups within Premier Plastics – including Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance – to accurately determine costing of new projects

  • Provide project management for customer projects, ensuring that projects move forward in a timely manner and holding self and others accountable for completion of tasks

  • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers with the goal of being the trusted expert the customer calls first when a new project arises

  • Occasional travel to industry events and trade shows to answer questions about Premier Plastics’ capabilities for prospective customers

  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field

  • 3+ years experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or quoting

  • Thorough understanding of the principles of cost in a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of ERP and quoting systems

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to generate loyalty with customers

  • Ability to work with other groups and functional areas within the business

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

  • Prioritization skills

  • Contagious positivity and “team first” mentality

  • Travel up to 10%


Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Familiarity with thermoforming and form-fill-seal packaging

  • Knowledge of sales techniques

  • Design software experience
